about me

Experience authentic Japan with a private guide. Far from the crowds, close to culture. Let me take you deeper into Kyushu.

From a young age, I studied kendo (Japanese fencing), a martial art widely practiced here in Kumamoto. I have also spent years practicing ikebana (flower arrangement) and sado (the way of tea)—two of Japan’s most refined cultural arts.

Today, I live in a peaceful rural village in Yamaga, known for its rich tea culture, hidden hot springs, and old-fashioned way of life. I’m fortunate to be part of a close-knit community where the rhythms of nature and tradition still guide our daily lives.

Large group tours can feel impersonal.
With a private guide, you get a tailor-made experience—based on your interests and preferences, at your own pace.

Whether you’re looking to discover sacred shrines, enjoy hot springs, meet local craftspeople, or simply relax in nature, I will create a custom day tour just for you.

If you’re seeking authentic, off-the-beaten-path experiences in Kyushu—with a guide who truly knows and loves the region—I’d be honored to share it with you. Let’s go beyond the guidebooks and into the heart of Japan.

I can’t wait to welcome you.

With warmest regards,
Mai
